Speaking to reporters, Olumide disclosed that a whopping 80 per cent of the buildings in this area lack proper approval.
During a recent inspection, Olumide and his team observed numerous estates in Ibeju Lekki and Epe without the necessary approvals.
He emphasized the importance of following the correct procedures to obtain approval, starting with understanding the zoning regulations for the area.
Most of the land in Ibeju Lekki is designated for agricultural use. However, individuals often purchase this land without realizing its intended purpose.

This leads to a cascade of issues during the approval process, such as missing out on crucial zoning information and failing to obtain necessary permits like the fence permit and layout permit.
Olumide highlighted the consequences of proceeding without approval, including the inability to obtain necessary permits even after investing time and money into the process.
He cautioned against advertising or selling properties without proper authorization, emphasizing the importance of adhering to zoning regulations to avoid legal complications.
The situation in Ibeju Lekki serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of disregarding planning regulations and underscores the need for increased awareness and compliance among property developers and buyers alike.
