Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), didn’t mince words when addressing the economic state of Ghana under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.

He pointed out that the policies implemented by the current government have resulted in severe economic challenges for the nation.

Speaking on Accra-based UTV on May 3, 2024, Gyamfi highlighted the extent of the damage done to Ghana’s economy, suggesting that rectifying it would be an arduous task.

He emphasized that the economic mess created by the current administration would require an extraordinary effort to fix, estimating that it would take 50 years of an 8-hour workday to restore the economy to its former state.

One of the major concerns Gyamfi raised was the alarming increase in Ghana’s debt burden, which he described as reaching unprecedented levels under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership

He also expressed apprehension about Ghana’s ability to secure further loans due to its precarious financial situation, noting that lenders may be hesitant to extend credit to a country with high levels of debt and limited repayment capacity.
