The family grew concerned when Trento failed to return as expected on the morning of Friday, May 3. He had been skiing alone and is believed to have fallen, resulting in his untimely death.

His body was found at the base of the North face, near an avalanche site, suggesting the possibility that he was swept away by the snow mass.

Trento was equipped with crampons at the time, indicating he may have been navigating a precarious route. The avalanche risk in the area, according to the Valle d’Aosta region’s bulletin that day, was marked as 3 above 2,600 meters in altitude and 2 below.

Search efforts commenced in the early afternoon, with the Valdostan mountain rescue team deploying helicopters and a medical team. Unfortunately, they could only confirm Trento’s passing, leaving behind a wife and three children.
