The Western Regional House of Chiefs praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his respect towards traditional authorities.

Dr. Bawumia, during his regional campaign tour, met with traditional leaders and other stakeholders.
On Thursday, May 2, he met with the Western Regional House of Chiefs in Takoradi to share his vision and listen to their concerns ahead of the December 7 elections.
The Acting President of the Western Regional House Chiefs expressed appreciation for Dr. Bawumia’s humility and respect towards traditional authority.
He highlighted the overwhelming gesture of humility and respect shown by the Vice President, reciprocating it by welcoming him warmly.

Dr. Bawumia, addressing the traditional rulers, outlined his plans if elected, promising to amend the Chieftaincy Act to restore certain powers to traditional leaders.
He emphasized the need to integrate traditional rulers into the governance system, particularly in handling local judicial matters, to alleviate the burden on the legal system and enhance respect for the Chieftaincy institution.
Additionally, Dr. Bawumia pledged to establish a development fund for the chieftaincy institution, demonstrating his commitment to empowering traditional authorities for local development.
