President Nana Akufo-Addo is poised to inaugurate 120 housing units in Appiatse, the agricultural community situated between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region.

This initiative follows a tragic explosion that devastated the community two years ago.
In January 2022, a catastrophic incident occurred when a vehicle transporting approximately 10 tonnes of mining explosives to the Chirano Mines collided with a motorcycle, triggering a massive explosion that razed Appiatse to the ground.

In response to this tragedy, the government initiated a reconstruction program to provide housing for the survivors. After concerted efforts, a total of 124 housing units and supplementary facilities have been completed for the affected residents.

These newly constructed houses range from one-bedroom to seven-bedroom units and are equipped with modern amenities.
Additionally, auxiliary facilities such as a market, a six-unit classroom block, a kindergarten block, internal roads, water and electricity connections, a drainage system, and a water storage system have been included to enhance the quality of life in the community.
The completion of these housing units marks a significant milestone in the reconstruction efforts for Appiatse and offers a renewed sense of hope to the affected residents.
