Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, Director General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), highlighted this initiative during a media engagement.

He emphasized that the distribution of these textbooks aligns with the President’s commitment to providing free TVET for all.

Furthermore, Dr. Asamoah outlined key milestones achieved by the government in TVET education, including the completion of the first five-year strategic plan (2018-2022) and the development of a TVET policy and the subsequent five-year strategic plan (2025-2029).

He noted upgrades to 34 former NVTI institutions, alongside the construction of new workshops for Technical Universities and modernized Technical Institutes equipped with industry-standard facilities.

Additionally, Dr. Asamoah announced the construction of four new District TVET centers of excellence, located at Anyinam, Poky No. 2, Assin Jakai, and Akumadan, with an investment of 25.7 million Euros.

The Commission, in collaboration with Sector Skills Bodies (SSBs), has standardized existing curriculum and trained over 8,000 TVET instructors in the CBT approach. Furthermore, ongoing curriculum development aims to bridge skills gaps with the involvement of sector skills bodies.

Dr. Asamoah revealed an increase in the number of economic sectors identified by the Ministry of Education from 22 to 24 as of 2023. He mentioned the establishment of 12 SSBs and the development of 108 CBT curriculum at various levels on the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVETQF).

Currently, there are 108 CBT programs in place, with an additional 115 under development as of January 2023, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing TVET education in Ghana.
