The artist, popularly known as “Worl’ Boss,” has been incarcerated in Jamaica since his arrest in 2011 in connection with the high-profile murder case. In 2021, Kartel’s lawyer filed an appeal with the Privy Council in the UK based on new evidence.

The Jamaican government has been directed to cover the legal fees of Kartel and three other defendants involved in the murder.

The Privy Council’s ruling in March mandates that the local Court of Appeal will review the murder case once more. A hearing is scheduled for June 10 to determine if a retrial is necessary or if Kartel and his co-defendants should be released.
