This initiative comes in response to the surge in COVID-19 cases, particularly in the Greater Accra Region, where infection rates have been highest.
With the aim of curbing the spread of the virus, the GHS emphasizes the importance of strict adherence to safety measures. Dr. Franklin Asiedu-Bekoe, Director of Public Health at GHS, highlighted the significance of widespread vaccination to combat the pandemic during a media briefing.

“We are observing an increase in COVID-19 cases in certain parts of Accra and other regions. This underscores the urgency for Ghanaians to get vaccinated.
Therefore, from May 4 to May 10, we will be conducting a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign, and we urge all Ghanaians to participate in this exercise,” Dr. Asiedu-Bekoe stated.
He further explained that multiple vaccination campaigns are planned throughout the year to achieve the necessary population immunity, which will help reduce the risk of COVID-19 infections in the country.
The GHS encourages all eligible individuals to take advantage of this vaccination opportunity to protect themselves and their communities against COVID-19.
