Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, made this announcement last Friday in Abuja. He mentioned that the school has returned the full amount of $760,000 to the EFCC’s recovery account.

Previously, the American International School in Abuja had requested the EFCC to provide proper bank details to process the refund of the fees paid for the ex-governor’s children.

On the 17th of April, EFCC agents surrounded Bello’s home in Abuja, trying to detain him for an alleged fraud of N80.2 billion. During this operation, Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi, came to Bello’s residence and is said to have taken Bello away.

The school, in a communication to the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Commander, stated that a total of $845,852 had been paid in tuition from September 7, 2021, until now.

The American International School of Abuja (AISA) clarified that the refundable amount is $760,910 after accounting for the educational services already provided.

The school’s letter requested the EFCC to send an official request with valid banking details to return the funds mentioned, as part of the investigation into the alleged money laundering by the Bello family.

The letter further explained that since September 7, 2021, they have received $845,852.84 in tuition and other fees. After deducting for the educational services given, the net amount to be refunded to the State is $760,910.84.

The school also noted that no additional tuition fees are expected as the students’ fees are covered until their graduation from AISA.
