Akufo-Addo Asserts John Mahama Cannot Succeed Him as President After Defeating Him Twice

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has confidently stated his support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the upcoming 2024 general elections. He believes that John Dramani Mahama, from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), won’t be able to take over as President since he has already been defeated by him twice.

During a speech to the local leaders and community in Wa, President Akufo-Addo thanked them for their support throughout his time in office. He shared his plans to visit again with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who he sees as the next leader from the New Patriotic Party.

He emphasized that he won’t be passing the leadership to John Dramani Mahama, the opponent he beat in the 2016 elections. President Akufo-Addo is dedicated to following his party’s plan for leadership succession, which includes Dr. Bawumia as the next in line.

He promised to return to Wa to express his gratitude for their cooperation during his presidency and to introduce them to his potential successor. He also mentioned that as a traditional ruler, they understand the importance of not allowing the person he replaced to succeed him.

President Akufo-Addo highlighted Ghana’s role as a leader in democratic governance in Africa and expressed his desire to uphold this reputation.

He called for their support and cooperation to ensure peace and stability throughout the election period and beyond. He also committed to maintaining peace in the country before, during, and after the elections in December.
