PDP Introduces 200-Member Campaign Council for Ighodalo’s Governorship Election in Edo

The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked off its campaign for the upcoming Governorship Election on September 21, 2024.

In Benin City, a 200-member campaign Council was unveiled on Thursday to spearhead the party’s efforts.

Tony Anenih (Jnr.), the PDP State Organising Secretary, emphasized the careful selection of versatile party members to support the candidacy of Dr. Asuerinme Ighodalo.

The campaign structure includes an Advisory Council led by State Governor Godwin Obaseki, a Management Committee, and a State Campaign Council comprising 200 notable PDP members.

Notable appointments include Mrs. Betsy Obaseki and Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo to head the women’s wing, and Timothy Osadolor to lead the youth wing.

Anenih highlighted that the selection process was closely supervised by party leaders, including Governor Obaseki.

Anenih expressed confidence in the Council’s ability to deliver Dr. Ighodalo, describing him as erudite and broad-minded.

The Advisory Council, headed by the Governor, oversees critical aspects such as finance, contact, mobilization, media, publicity, field operations, and security.

The youth and women wings will operate independently but maintain a symbiotic relationship with other Directorates.

Anenih congratulated the selected members, urging them to hit the ground running in their campaign efforts.
