With a remarkable personal best of 57:59 in the half marathon, achieved at the 2020 Valencia Half Marathon, Munyao stands as one of the top performers in the field. His time ranks as the fourth fastest in history, showcasing his exceptional talent and endurance.

In addition to his half marathon achievements, Munyao claimed victory at the 2023 Prague International Marathon, setting a course record with an impressive time of 2:05:09.

However, Munyao’s most notable triumph came in the 2024 London Marathon, where he emerged victorious after a thrilling race.

In a stunning display of athleticism, Munyao outpaced legendary Ethiopian distance runner Kenenisa Bekele in the final three kilometers, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 2:04:01.

Reflecting on his monumental win, Munyao expressed his joy and gratitude, stating, “At around 40K is where I thought I could win. My focus was good and I felt good. This is the biggest marathon of my career and it means a lot. I think very many good things are yet to come.”

Munyao also paid tribute to fellow runner Kelvin Kiptum, honoring his memory by dedicating his victory to him: “Kelvin Kiptum was very much in my thoughts today. Let him rest in peace.”
