Juventus, the Italian football giants, have been ordered to pay their former star player Cristiano Ronaldo a hefty sum of £8.3 million.

This decision comes after Ronaldo, who now plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, took legal action against Juventus for not paying him during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ronaldo sought £17 million, the amount he was promised when he agreed to defer his wages amid the lockdown.

In March 2020 and April 2021, Juventus players, including Ronaldo, agreed to defer four months’ worth of their salaries due to the club’s financial struggles.

However, the promised payments were never made, and Juventus failed to report these deferred wages in their financial records.

Following arbitration, it was ruled that both Ronaldo and Juventus share responsibility for the unpaid wages. Consequently, Juventus has been ordered to pay half of the deferred amount to Ronaldo.

The 38-year-old forward left Juventus in August 2021 after three seasons with the club, during which he scored an impressive 101 goals in 134 appearances.

Currently, Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr, but his recent on-field conduct has attracted attention, as he was sent off for violent conduct during a match against Al-Hilal.

This incident occurred when Ronaldo appeared to elbow Al-Hilal’s player, resulting in a red card for the seasoned footballer.
