President Nana Akufo-Addo has inaugurated the Anwomaso 1 Thermal Power Plant in Kumasi, marking a significant step forward in the country’s energy sector.

The plant, with a total capacity of 150 megawatts, is crucial in the government’s efforts to ensure a sustainable electricity supply, particularly in the Ashanti Region.

During the commissioning ceremony, President Akufo-Addo underscored the importance of meeting the growing demand for power as Ghana’s population and economic activities continue to expand.

He highlighted the significance of projects like the Anwomaso 1 Thermal Power Plant in enhancing the country’s energy supply and meeting the needs of the Ghanaian people.

President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his government’s commitment to fostering economic growth and social development across all regions of Ghana.

He emphasized the Ashanti Region’s role in supporting the growth of small and medium-scale enterprises, as well as commercial and industrial sectors.

The President expressed his expectation that the power plant would improve electricity supply, leading to the expansion of businesses and the creation of employment opportunities, especially for the youth.

President Akufo-Addo also reiterated his government’s commitment to delivering affordable and reliable electricity to drive the nation’s industrialization agenda and position Ghana as a net exporter of electricity in the ECOWAS region.
