Former Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, who represented the Kwara South Senatorial District, has passed away at the age of 57, his family confirmed.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adebayo served the Kwara South District from 2015 to 2019, during which he chaired the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.
According to a statement released by his family, Senator Adebayo died in the early hours of Wednesday, April 17, in Abuja after a brief illness.
The family statement reads:
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, uncle, and brother, Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim. Senator Rafiu departed this life this morning, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, service, and profound impact. We kindly request your prayers and support during this difficult time. Details regarding his burial arrangements will be communicated in due course. We pray that Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al-jannah Firdaus.”

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq extended his condolences to the family of the late senator, the people of Ojoku in Oyun Local Government Area, and the Peoples Democratic Party.
The statement also reads:
“This shocking development again reminds everyone of the inevitability of death for all human beings and the fact that it could come unannounced for anyone. Governor AbdulRazaq prays to Allah to admit the senator to al-Jannah Firdaus and give comfort to his family members, political associates, and followers.”
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Professor Ali Ahmad, mourned the deceased, describing him as a remarkable individual dedicated to personal development and philanthropy.
