Chairman Wontumi, the current Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party, has explained why former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, lost the Ejisu NPP Primary.

Chairman Wontumi, who is known in real life as Bernard Antwi Boasiako, revealed that he was never surprised about Kwesi Nyantakyi’s loss in the race to become the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu Constituency ahead of the 2024 elections.
Kwesi Nyantakyi garnered only 35 votes from a total of a little of over 1000 voting delegates in the Ejisu Constituency.

Chairman Wontumi revealed that the hospitalization of Kwesi Nyantakyi was to his great disadvantage in the election as he was not fully involved in the process from start to finish to canvas more votes.
Chairman Wontumi stated: “In elections, you should be able to follow every aspect in order to emerge victorious, but that did not happen for Kwesi Nyantakyi. He was ill at the last minute and couldn’t campaign as he should have but he has done well and I’m not surprised.”
Chairman Wontumi additionally congratulated Kwesi Nyantakyi for taking the bold step of availing himself to serve the people of Ejisu after the demise of John Kumah.
