This week marked a somber moment for Cameroon’s football legend as he bid farewell to his father in Ngambe, his hometown.

The President of FECAFOOT and renowned football figure respectfully laid his late father to rest in Douala, following his passing several months ago.

David Eto’o, who bravely battled illness until his passing at the age of 69 in April 2023, will now be honored with funeral rites in Ngambe, located in the Sanaga Maritime division of the Littoral Region.

Eto’o, known not only for his remarkable football career but also for his ambassadorial role at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, had a moment of controversy captured on film after a Brazil-South Korea match.

In the footage, he was seen kneeing a man in the face during a confrontation.

Though the incident did not result in serious injury and the identity of the man and the reason behind the altercation remain unknown, it sparked attention from news outlets worldwide.

As Eto’o bids farewell to his father and prepares to honor him in his ancestral village, his contributions to football and his moments of controversy remain a part of his legacy.
