This escalated the ongoing conflict between the two nations and heightened the risk of broader regional confrontation.
In an unprecedented attack, Iran launched over 300 projectiles, including approximately 170 drones and more than 120 ballistic missiles, towards Israel.
However, Israel’s military reported that its defense systems intercepted “99%” of the incoming threats, alongside assistance from its allies.
This marked Iran’s first direct assault on Israel from its own territory, signaling a dangerous shift in the Middle East’s dynamics. Tehran warned of even stronger retaliation if Israel responds to the weekend strikes.

During a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Joe Biden reiterated America’s unwavering commitment to Israel’s security but clarified that the US would not engage in offensive operations against Iran.
Biden commended Israel’s successful defense against the unprecedented attacks.
Despite the intensity of the assault, no significant damage was reported on the Israeli side. However, a 7-year-old girl was severely injured by shrapnel from an interceptor missile.
As the situation unfolded, Israel and neighboring countries closed their airspace, and public shelters were opened in affected areas.
Although the attack concluded by Sunday morning, Iran’s mission to the United Nations cautioned about the potential for further escalation.
Additionally, over 55 rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israel early Sunday, adding to the volatile situation in the region.
