Mawuena Trebarh, the trailblazing first female CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), has passed away at the age of 52 after a brief illness.

The sister of the late BBC Broadcaster, Komla Dumor, left this world on Thursday, April 11, 2024, just a day shy of her 53rd birthday.
Trebarh leaves behind her husband, Flt LT Divine Trebah, and their daughter, Katherine Joy.
As the CEO of GIPC from April 2013 to January 2017, Trebarh made significant contributions to Ghana’s investment landscape. She spearheaded initiatives to promote investments in various sectors of the economy, both locally and internationally.
Before her appointment at GIPC, Trebarh served as the Founding Director and Chief Business Strategist of Inspire Africa Consult Limited, a business strategy consulting firm.

During her tenure at GIPC, Trebarh played a pivotal role in driving Ghana’s investment agenda. She was instrumental in the passage of the new GIPC Law, Act 865, and advocated for its implementation through stakeholder engagements and forums.
Under her leadership, GIPC achieved significant milestones, including winning the award for the best Investment Promotion Agency in Western and Central Africa. Additionally, foreign direct investment saw a remarkable surge during her tenure, reaching USD 112.2 billion in the first quarter of 2015.
Trebarh’s illustrious career spanned senior executive roles in various sectors, including mining and telecommunications. Her expertise and commitment to excellence earned her national and international recognition, including the Millennium Leadership Forum Award and the National Youth Role Model Award.
Trebarh’s legacy as a visionary leader and dedicated public servant will be cherished by all who knew her.
