Dr. Annan believes that the Effutu Constituency seat belongs to the NDC, and he is determined to win it back.

He urged NDC members, particularly those from safe constituencies, to register and transfer their votes to the UEW campus to vote in the Effutu Constituency. In exchange, Dr. Annan promised to provide scholarships to these students for the duration of their education. He emphasized that he has been providing scholarships to University students every year since the 2020 general elections.

Dr. Annan also expressed concern about the importation of voters to the Effutu Constituency by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and urged students to help the NDC by working hard to stop this practice during the Electoral Commission’s voters’ registration exercise from May 7 to May 27, 2024.

The President of the UEW TEIN Branch, Issaka Osman Abideen, expressed worry about the misunderstanding of the NDC’s 24-hour economy policy due to multiple interpretations.

He stated that the public lecture would help educate Ghanaians, particularly traders, drivers, hawkers, market women, and others, on the benefits of the 24-hour economy policy. The public lecture was held under the theme “Youth Empowerment in the 24-hour Economy: Bridging Opportunities and Innovation.”
