Inflation for March 2024 has seen a significant increase to 25.8 percent, up from 23.2 percent in February 2024, marking a 2.6 percentage point jump. The food inflation rate also rose from 27.0 percent in February to 29.6 percent in March, while non-food inflation was reported at 22.6 percent for March.

This data was revealed by Government Statistician Professor Samuel Kobina Annim on April 10. Professor Annim explained that the inflation rate for March 2024 stood at 25.8 percent, showing a surge of 2.6 percent from February’s 23.2 percent.

Prof Anim further broke down the inflation rates into food and non-food categories, with food inflation at 29.6 percent and non-food at 22.6 percent. Both categories saw a 2.6 percent increase in their inflation rates between February and March 2024.

Interestingly, February had seen a decrease in inflation, with the rate standing at 23.2 percent, a 0.3 percentage point drop from January’s 23.5 percent.
In other news, Edem Agbana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Ketu North, is advocating for the implementation of a 24-hour economy policy proposed by former President John Mahama. Agbana believes this policy could be the solution to the country’s economic challenges.
