The Kannywood community mourns the loss of beloved actress Saratu Gidado, who passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the age of 56.

Gidado, known for her comedic roles, died peacefully in her sleep after enjoying the Ramadan Suhur meal, adhering to Islamic burial customs.
Born on January 17, 1968, Gidado rose to fame in the early 2000s with her standout performance in the movie “Linzami Da Wuta.” Her acting prowess shone in popular films like “Nagari,” “Gidauniya,” “Mashi,” and “Sansani.”
Her sudden demise has left the industry and her fans in shock, with tributes pouring in to honor her memory.

Close friend Habiba Umar expressed, “Daso’s departure leaves a void in the industry that will be difficult to fill. She was not only a talented actress but also a warm-hearted individual who touched the lives of many with her performances.”
Beyond her acting career, Gidado served as the protocol officer to the emir of Kano State, Muhammad Sanusi II, in 2016. Throughout her lifetime, she graced the screens in over 100 films, leaving a lasting impact on audiences.
Saratu Gidado is survived by her husband, Mohammad Lawan, and their children, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
