Akindele felt compelled to respond due to the involvement of Aderounmu Adejumoke’s life. She has addressed allegations that she neglected the late actress Aderounmu Adejumoke when she sought help during her illness. Aderounmu, who portrayed Esther in the popular series Jenifa’s Diaries produced by Akindele, was reportedly ignored.

During an Instagram live session on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Akindele expressed that she was unaware of Aderounmu’s illness. She felt the need to respond after seeing a harsh comment on her page wishing her ill.
Akindele explained that she values her fans and feels the need to clarify things in this era of social media where silence can lead to false accusations. She expressed her unhappiness and clarified that her relationship with Aderounmu was purely professional and she didn’t know her personally.

Aderounmu’s brother, Adeola Aderounmu, suggested on Instagram that the family had tried to reach out to Akindele for help but received no response. Akindele, however, stated that she is always willing to help and does so without publicizing it. She would have assisted if she had known about Aderounmu’s situation.
Akindele expressed her distress, stating that she is going through a lot personally. Despite working hard, she faces criticism for not supporting her colleagues or attending events. She explained her absence from events due to her location and work commitments.
Akindele emphasized that she doesn’t hold grudges against any filmmaker and that her achievements are due to God’s grace. She also mentioned her own trials, including the loss of her mother during COVID, political backlash, and personal attacks.
Finally, she mentioned that she reached out to Aderounmu’s brother after her death but received no response. She expressed her condolences and regret for not knowing about Aderounmu’s situation.
