Electoral Commission Declares April 30 For The Ejisu By-Election

The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled April 30, 2024, for the by-election in Ejisu following the passing of John Kumah on March 7, 2024.

The deputy Finance Minister passed away after a brief illness, leaving behind a spouse and six children.

The NPP commenced nominations on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, and by the time it concluded on Thursday, April 4, nine aspirants submitted their applications.

All nine aspirants vying to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary primary in the constituency were given clearance by the vetting committee on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

The NPP is anticipated to elect a parliamentary candidate for the constituency on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

As of now, no other political party has shown interest in the by-election. The NDC has indicated that it is still deliberating on whether to partake in the by-election.
