Two Pedestrians Fatally Struck by Speeding Vehicle

Two pedestrians have been tragically killed in a road accident on the Konongo-Nkawkaw highway in Ghana, allegedly caused by a speeding vehicle.

According to reports from MyNewsGh.com, the incident occurred when a Nissan Urvan minibus, with registration number GT 7972-20, was traveling from Konongo towards Accra.

Upon reaching a section of the road on the outskirts of Asankare, the driver allegedly failed to drive with due care and attention, resulting in the vehicle striking two adult male pedestrians.

The pedestrians, identified only as Awudu, aged about 20 years, and Kwabena, aged about 21 years, were crossing the road from the offside pavement to the nearside pavement when the accident happened.

Sadly, Awudu died at the scene of the accident, while Kwabena sustained severe head and bodily injuries. He was rushed to Juaso Government Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The bodies of the deceased were deposited at Stewards Hospital and Juaso Government Hospital morgues for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

The accident caused extensive damage to the vehicle, while the driver, identified as Yaw Bekoe, and his passengers reportedly escaped unhurt.

However, Bekoe has been detained at Juaso station to assist in the investigation, and the accident vehicle has been impounded at Kantanso police station for testing and examination.
