Fulgence, accused of brutally slashing the throat of his girlfriend, Nda Abekan Anne or Ella, was captured on April 2, 2024, at Edwakpole, a village near Anyinase in the Ellembele District of the Western Region.

Reports indicate that Fulgence escaped to Ghana to evade prosecution for the heinous crime committed in Côte d’Ivoire.

The arrest was made possible through collaboration between Ghanaian authorities and counterparts on the Ivorian side of the Elubo Border, as well as the Ivorian Police Commissaire.

Initial investigations suggested that Fulgence might seek refuge with relatives in the Edwakpole village, prompting the deployment of a surveillance team led by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Joshua Krakue.

After an intensive operation, Fulgence was identified and apprehended in a house believed to be his family residence at Edwakpole village.

The GIS, in coordination with the Ivorian Police Commissaire, facilitated the transfer of Fulgence on Tuesday around 4 p.m. at the Elubo Border in Noe for further legal proceedings.

The successful arrest of Fulgence demonstrates the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between Ghanaian and Ivorian authorities in tackling transnational crimes.
