According to a press release dated April 5, 2024, the security agency disclosed that among the arrested are four juveniles, all students of PRESEC Legon, and two adults identified as Isaac Kissi Adjei, alias Kofi Black, and Courage Teiko, alias Timmy.

The arrests follow recent reports that circulated widely concerning the purported abduction of a PRESEC student while on his way home from school.

Initial reports suggested that the alleged kidnappers were demanding a ransom from the student’s family, threatening to sell his organs if their demands were not met.

However, the preliminary investigation conducted by the police revealed startling revelations. It was uncovered that the kidnapping was allegedly staged by the supposed victim as an attempt to extort money from his parents.

The young boy purportedly devised a plan to acquire funds for a journey abroad and conspired with the other individuals to execute the kidnapping scenario.

“In the process, they demanded an amount of Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵340,000.00) as ransom from the alleged victim’s parents,” the statement from the police detailed.

“The Investigation further disclosed that the juveniles together with the two others succeeded in collecting an amount of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵20,000.00) of the total ransom demanded.”

The police have informed the parents and guardians of the students involved while the investigation continues to unfold. Read the statement below:
