This expansion initiative, supported by the Presbyterian Church, United States of America, as part of its Ghana Maternity Unit Partnership Project, and in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Ho, Ghana, and the Rotary Club of Bridgeport, USA, aims to fortify maternal healthcare services in the area.

The expansion efforts have resulted in the establishment of a fully equipped maternity unit and intensive care facilities for newborns, addressing the critical need for enhanced maternal and neonatal care in the community.

The newly expanded health center boasts a 20-bed maternity unit, featuring a comprehensive range of amenities including open patient departments, wards, a pharmacy, a laboratory, and storage facilities.

Moreover, it is outfitted with essential medical equipment such as incubators, radiant warmers, and weighing scales, ensuring the provision of high-quality healthcare services to both mothers and their newborns.

Rev. Lt. Colonel Bliss Divine Kofi Agbeko, the Moderator of the E.P Church, emphasized that the decision to expand the health center was prompted by the high birth rate in the area, coupled with the facility’s crucial role in serving the healthcare needs of the South Dayi District.

“The expansion of the health center is a testament to our commitment to improving maternal health outcomes and safeguarding the well-being of both mothers and neonates,” stated Rev. Agbeko.

He further expressed optimism that the expanded facilities would contribute significantly to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in the community.

Looking ahead, Rev. Agbeko emphasized the church’s continued dedication to further expanding the health center’s capacity, citing the community’s large population and its reliance on the facility for essential healthcare services.

He stressed the importance of expedited efforts in addressing healthcare needs, particularly for those residing in remote areas.
