Herbert Krapa has been appointed as the new Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The swearing-in ceremony, officiated by Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh on Thursday, April 4, 2024, marks a pivotal moment in ECG’s leadership transition.
Krapa, who took the oath of office and the oath of secrecy administered by the Energy Minister, steps into the role following the resignation of Keli Gadzekpo as ECG Board Chair on March 26, 2024, citing personal reasons.
Speaking at the ceremony, Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh highlighted the challenges facing ECG and emphasized the imperative of addressing them effectively.
“We must continue on a path of ensuring that the company lives up to its billing,” he stated, affirming the government’s dedication to enhancing ECG’s performance and service delivery.

Addressing Herbert Krapa directly, Dr. Opoku Prempeh urged the new Chairman to uphold the trust and expectations vested in him by the President.
He emphasized the importance of decisive leadership in navigating the complexities and challenges within the energy sector, expressing confidence in Krapa’s ability to lead with integrity and diligence.
In response, Herbert Krapa, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Energy, reiterated his commitment to steering ECG towards excellence.
“His Excellency the President has given a very unequivocal indication of his resolve to ensure an ECG that will be formidable to keep the lights on, and I am determined to actualize this vision,” Krapa affirmed, pledging to work closely with his Minister and stakeholders to achieve the shared goals.
As Herbert Krapa assumes leadership of ECG, expectations are high for his strategic direction and stewardship in driving the company’s transformation agenda.
