President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced the appointment of Joseph Abuabu Dadzie as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), effective Thursday, May 2, 2024.

Dadzie, who previously served as Deputy Chief Executive with responsibilities covering Commerce, Strategy, and Business Development within the corporation, assumes this new role following the departure of Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah, who held the position of CEO since April 2022.
The appointment was disclosed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, dated Wednesday, April 3, 2024. The letter highlighted that Joseph Abuabu Dadzie’s appointment is subject to the necessary advice from the Minister for Energy.

According to the letter, “Pursuant to Section 10 (2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L. 64), I am pleased to inform you that the President has appointed you to act as the Chief Executive of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (the “Corporation”) pending receipt of the required advice of the honourable Minister for Energy, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”
The President’s directive urged Dadzie to respond to the appointment within 14 days of receiving the letter.
In response to the appointment, Joseph Abuabu Dadzie expressed gratitude for the opportunity and assured his commitment to fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him.
