In a recent appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz with host MzGee, Quaye addressed the backlash and criticisms surrounding the TGMA nominations, emphasizing that no award scheme is perfect, not even renowned ones like the Grammys or Oscars.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by the TGMA board, Quaye commended their efforts in ensuring transparency by providing a one-week window for artists to address any grievances they may have with the nominations.

“It will not be perfect; you can never get it in that way. Even the Grammys are not perfect. Every year, there are controversies surrounding the award schemes,” Quaye remarked, highlighting the inherent imperfections in the award selection process.

He urged musicians and stakeholders in the music industry to support the TGMA and recognize the efforts made by the board, despite the inevitable controversies that may arise.

Quaye’s comments come amidst criticisms from some artists who were not nominated in the 2024 TGMA, with rapper Amerado notably petitioning the TGMA board after his song ‘Kwaku Ananse’ failed to secure a nomination.
