Bella Shmurda emphasizes that a tattoo does not define a person’s character. According to the singer, having tattoos is no longer a significant issue in Lagos, with parents becoming more accepting of them.

Speaking on the 90’s Baby Show about tattoos, Bella Shmurda noted a shift in attitudes, stating, “Having tattoos is not a new thing in Lagos anymore. This time religion does not dictate everything that you do anymore, our parents have grown to understand that there has been a shift and we have to live our lives.”

He highlighted that body modifications, once frowned upon, are now more widely accepted by the older generation, who are focused on guiding the youth away from trouble. Bella Shmurda mentioned, “Even the elderly ones in Lagos have come to accept that they have done their part and we have to live our lives.”
The singer mentioned that even pastors in Nigeria now have tattoos, emphasizing that a tattoo does not determine a person’s true self. Despite his mother’s initial disapproval, Bella Shmurda now proudly boasts a total of 18 tattoos.
