Despite Senegal’s journey to the Round of 16 in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, which was cut short by a defeat to England, Cissé’s focus remains on AFCON success.

When asked about his priorities between AFCON and a deep World Cup run, Cissé made his stance clear. He stated his preference for winning another AFCON in Morocco in 2025, emphasizing the special nature of the tournament.

Cissé believes Senegal is capable of winning the World Cup in the future with the emerging generation, but he stressed the importance of starting with qualification for the upcoming AFCON in 2025 and aiming to reclaim the title that eluded them in Ivory Coast.
