Larry Lucchino, the esteemed former president and CEO of the Boston Red Sox, passed away on April 2, 2024, at the age of 78.

Lucchino’s tenure with the Red Sox, spanning from 2002 to 2015, left an indelible mark on the organization, coinciding with a triumphant era that saw the team clinch three World Series titles in 2004, 2007, and 2013.
Joining the Red Sox alongside Tom Werner as part of John Henry’s ownership group, Lucchino’s leadership was instrumental in reshaping the landscape of the franchise.
Under his guidance, the Red Sox not only achieved on-field success but also spearheaded innovations in ballpark design and enhanced the fan experience.

Despite facing health challenges throughout his life, including battles with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, prostate cancer, and kidney cancer, Lucchino’s resilience and determination remained unwavering.
In 2016, he was appointed chairman of the Jimmy Fund, further solidifying his commitment to cancer research and patient care.
In honor of Lucchino’s memory, his family has requested that donations be made to the Larry Lucchino Family Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, in lieu of flowers.
Lucchino is survived by his loving wife, Stacey Johnson, and their two children, Davis and Blair. His legacy as a visionary leader and beloved figure within the Red Sox community will continue to resonate for years to come.
