The incident, which has stirred public outrage, allegedly occurred during an interrogation by a police officer named Clement Suputour. Kumah’s lawyer, Andrew Khartey, decried the purportedly unlawful act, emphasizing that no one should be subjected to such treatment based on mere resemblance to a person captured in a CCTV footage.
Kumah, who was reportedly a few months pregnant at the time, suffered severe injuries, including the partial loss of her ear. Her lawyer highlighted the added cruelty of subjecting a pregnant woman to such brutality.

According to accounts from Kumah and her legal representative, the incident unfolded on February 29, 2024 when she was arrested while visiting her boyfriend at a police station.
Subsequently, she was allegedly interrogated, during which she denied any knowledge of a person referred to as “Survivor.” Despite her protests, Kumah claims she was assaulted and coerced into signing a statement under duress.
The victim’s harrowing ordeal sheds light on broader concerns about police brutality and the need for thorough investigations into such incidents.
Her petition to the IGP seeks not only justice for herself but also accountability within the police force to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
