Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially inaugurated the latest addition to Ghana’s firefighting infrastructure: a cutting-edge Fire Service Academy and Training School located in Duayaw-Nkwanta, within the Tano North District of the Ahafo Region.

This inauguration marks the third such facility established under the leadership of the Akufo-Addo government, supplementing the existing Fire Service Training School situated in Jamestown, Greater Accra.
The newly unveiled facility adds to the Government’s ongoing efforts to bolster the capabilities of the fire service and enhance the protection of lives and property nationwide.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Duayaw-Nkwanta, Vice President Bawumia underscored the significance of the occasion, heralding it as a milestone in the government’s steadfast commitment to citizen safety.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the establishment of the Duayaw-Nkwanta Fire Academy and Training School is part of a broader initiative initiated in 2017 to expand the country’s firefighting training infrastructure from one to four facilities.

This strategic move aims to equip the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) with state-of-the-art resources and capabilities to effectively combat fires and conduct rescue operations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.
The facility boasts modern training amenities and equipment, including hydraulic platforms capable of reaching heights of up to 16 floors, essential for firefighting and rescue operations in high-rise structures.
Such investments align with the government’s vision to fortify the GNFS with the necessary tools and personnel to fulfill its mandate efficiently.
Acknowledging the commendable achievements of the GNFS, Vice President Bawumia highlighted the government’s unwavering support, which has seen a substantial increase in personnel and the provision of modern firefighting equipment.
In closing, Dr. Bawumia reiterated the government’s commitment to continually support the GNFS in realizing its mission of safeguarding lives and property.
The Acting President of the Duayaw Nkwanta Traditional Council, Nana Boakye Bonsu, expressed gratitude for the establishment of the Training School, underscoring its importance to the local community and the nation at large.
