Tragedy struck the Suame industrial enclave in the Ashanti Region as a fatal gas explosion claimed the life of a 50-year-old carbide welder, leaving his family and friends in mourning and fear.

Kwabena Afriyie, the deceased, met his untimely demise while servicing a faulty vehicle with a cylinder containing liquid oxygen. The explosion ripped his body apart, resulting in instantaneous death.
Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing scene, describing how the explosion shook the surroundings and left Afriyie’s body mutilated. Despite the prompt response, there was little that could be done to save him.
