Former NHL Player and Partner of Aryna Sabalenka, Konstantin Koltsov, dead at 42

Konstantin Koltsov, the former Belarusian ice hockey player known for his speed on the ice and his relationship with tennis star Aryna Sabalenka, has tragically passed away at the age of 42.

The news of Koltsov’s death was announced by his former club Salavat Yulaev on March 18, 2024.

In a statement, the club expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their beloved coach and remembered him as a strong and cheerful individual who was loved and respected by players, colleagues, and fans alike.

Koltsov’s illustrious career included playing for the Belarus national team in the 2002 and 2010 Olympics, as well as spending time with the National Hockey League’s Pittsburgh Penguins from 2002 to 2006.

He was also part of the Salavat Yulaev team that won the Russian Super League title in 2008. After retiring from professional hockey, Koltsov returned to Salavat Yulaev as an assistant coach, further contributing to the sport he loved.

Outside of hockey, Koltsov’s relationship with Aryna Sabalenka garnered attention. The pair, first linked in June 2021, often shared glimpses of their life together on social media.

Konstantin Koltsov is survived by his three sons from a previous relationship named Daniel, Alexander, and Stefan. The cause of his death has not been disclosed, leaving fans and loved ones mourning the loss of a talented athlete and cherished individual.
