He signed a one-year deal, worth up to $8.5 million. The news was confirmed by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and  the deal includes $6 million in guaranteed money.

Wagner’s illustrious career has taken him from the Pacific Northwest to the nation’s capital. After a brief stint with the Los Angeles Rams, Wagner returns to familiar territory, reuniting with his former defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn.

The two previously collaborated during Seattle’s dominant defensive era, which culminated in back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in 2013 and 2014.

During his time with the Seahawks, Wagner emerged as a linchpin of the vaunted “Legion of Boom” defense.

His relentless pursuit of excellence earned him six first-team All-Pro selections, with the pinnacle coming in 2014.

That year, Wagner’s impact was felt across the league as he helped Seattle secure a decisive victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

With the Seahawks undergoing a coaching transition under Mike Macdonald, Wagner sought fresh challenges. The 33-year-old linebacker now finds himself in the heart of the nation’s political hub, ready to contribute to a revamped Commanders defense.

As Wagner embarks on this new chapter, questions linger about whether this could be his final season. However, his recent Pro Bowl and All-Pro (second team) performances suggest he still has plenty left in the tank.

Whether he’s mentoring young talents or making crucial stops on the field, Wagner’s presence will be felt in the nation’s capital.
