The former world champion cyclist, Dennis, was arrested in January 2024 and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care, and endangering life.
According to police allegations, Dennis recklessly collided with the 32-year-old mother of two in front of their residence in Medindie, located in Adelaide’s inner north, on December 30, 2023.
Despite being rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Hoskins succumbed to her injuries that very night.
During his appearance in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Dennis remained silent throughout the proceedings as he stood in the dock.
Magistrate Simon Smart granted a request from prosecutors for a five-month adjournment until his next court appearance, allowing the police to conclude a major crash reconstruction.

Dennis’s lawyer, Jessica Kurtzer, successfully applied for his bail to be modified to remove reporting requirements.
The Australian cycling community was deeply saddened by the news of Hoskins’ untimely demise.
“Melissa described her team pursuit gold medal at the 2015 world championships as the highlight of her career, but for the rest of us, the highlight was just having her around,” stated Marne Fechner, the chief executive of AusCycling, expressing the collective grief.
Hoskins, who competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics in track cycling’s team pursuit, was part of the squad that clinched the 2015 world title in the event.
She was laid to rest in her hometown of Perth, with a public memorial service held in Adelaide in February on what would have been her 33rd birthday, attended by Dennis.
Dennis is scheduled to return to court in August 2024, where prosecutors will confirm the charges they will be pursuing against him. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment.
