The Bengals’ move to sign Gesicki comes hot on the heels of the team’s re-signing of Drew Sample to a three-year contract just the day before, further solidifying their tight end position.
Gesicki’s journey to Cincinnati follows a one-year stint with the New England Patriots, where he signed a contract in March 2023 with a base value of $4.5 million.
Despite hopes of a resurgence in New England’s offensive system, Gesicki’s production remained modest, recording 29 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns in the 2023 season.
Often deployed as a complement to primary tight end Hunter Henry, Gesicki’s role fell short of expectations, with Coach Bill Belichick referring to him more as a “fifth receiver” than a traditional tight end.

Reflecting on his experience with the Patriots, Gesicki expressed surprise at the turn of events, acknowledging the challenges faced both individually and as a team. However, entering his seventh NFL season in 2024, Gesicki remains optimistic, stating, “I feel like I’m 22 and just got drafted.”
A second-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2018, Gesicki brings a wealth of experience to the Bengals, boasting 260 receptions for 2,861 yards and 20 touchdowns over his career.
As Gesicki embarks on this new chapter with the Bengals, both the player and the team are primed for a fresh start, eager to make an impact in the upcoming NFL season.
