The brothers are slated for extradition back to Britain, Romanian officials announced on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Law enforcement officers from Romania’s Criminal Investigation Service, in collaboration with officers from the town of Voluntari, acted on two European arrest warrants issued by UK judicial authorities.

The warrants pertain to allegations of sexual offenses and exploitation of individuals within Great Britain, according to a statement released by the police.

Following their arrest, a spokesperson for the Tates revealed that the Romanian Court of Appeal has granted their extradition.

However, the extradition process has been postponed until after the conclusion of their ongoing trial in Romania. The trial pertains to charges of human trafficking and rape, allegations vehemently denied by the Tate brothers.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mateea Petrescu, the brothers’ spokesperson, expressed their profound dismay over the resurfacing of decade-old accusations.

The Tates categorically reject all charges and express disappointment at the revival of these serious allegations without substantial new evidence.

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer of American-British descent, gained prominence on the internet in recent years, amassing over 11.6 billion views on TikTok.

However, his content, characterized by misogynistic rhetoric promoting male dominance and wealth, has sparked controversy.

Major social media platforms have suspended Tate due to his divisive comments, with concerns raised by human rights activists, educators, and law enforcement officials about his influence on impressionable individuals, particularly young audiences.

During a court appearance on Tuesday at the Bucharest Court of Appeals, both Tate brothers expressed their reluctance to return to the UK.

Andrew Tate, addressing the judge, recounted his previous experience of being falsely accused and the profound impact it had on his life.

Last year, the Tate brothers spent three months in police custody in Bucharest and were subsequently placed under house arrest pending a criminal investigation into alleged abuses against seven women, allegations they vehemently deny.

Released in August 2023, they were placed under judicial control, with restrictions on leaving Bucharest and Ilfov county without prior court approval.
