John Mahama Pledges to Probe State Land Misuse if Elected President in 2024

He indicates that the Ga Adangbe state gave out lands to the state for specific projects, including the airport, and the Supreme Court, among others. John Dramani Mahama believes that several lands that are not being used for the purpose for which they were acquired by the government have been looted and a commission of inquiry will ensure that these lands are taken back and given to the Ga Adangbe people.

Mahama revealed these promises in his post-election acceptance speech at the University of Development Studies (UDS) on Monday, May 15, 2023, after he had received an overwhelming 98.9 percent vote from NDC delegates to become the party’s flagbearer.

The legal challenge is spearheaded by Ken Kuranchie, a veteran journalist, lawyer, and member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). It will be the second time such a writ is being filed as the initial one by the same plaintiff was dismissed by the Supreme Court in November last year over non-compliance with court rules.
