DJ Cuppy Reveals She Wanted to Turn Down Taylor’s Proposal

DJ Cuppy, the renowned Nigerian disc jockey and philanthropist, has opened up about her past relationship with ex-fiancé Ryan Taylor, admitting that she regrets not declining his marriage proposal.

Speaking at a conference organized by NGO The Prince’s Trust on International Women’s Day, DJ Cuppy emphasized the importance of women feeling empowered to say no. Reflecting on her own experiences, she shared that she should have refused Taylor’s proposal, acknowledging that it was one of the decisions she regrets.

“Let me be honest with you guys, one of the things I have learned is saying no. I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I did not say no. I did not say no to opportunities that I should have said no to. I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should have said no to,” DJ Cuppy confessed.

The news of DJ Cuppy’s engagement to the boxer sparked controversy on social media, particularly amidst rumours of Taylor’s alleged involvement with another woman just a week prior. Despite the speculation, DJ Cuppy appeared unperturbed, asserting that she was uninterested in a “perfect love story,” deeming it cliché.

However, in July 2023, DJ Cuppy and Ryan Taylor unfollowed each other on social media, signalling the end of their relationship. DJ Cuppy subsequently confirmed her single status, signalling a new chapter in her life.
