The Electoral Commission (EC) has made crucial announcements regarding the upcoming 2024 general elections in Ghana.

In a recent meeting held with political parties’ representatives, the EC declared that the filing fees for presidential and parliamentary aspirants will remain unchanged from the 2020 elections.
Presidential candidates will need to pay GH¢100,000, while parliamentary candidates will pay GH¢10,000.
During the meeting, both the EC and political party leaders exchanged ideas, with the EC showing openness to incorporating several suggestions into their election plan.
The political parties present unanimously praised the EC for its comprehensive calendar outlining the election timeline.

In another decision, the EC confirmed the continued use of indelible ink for marking voters in the upcoming elections. Furthermore, it announced that the Limited Voter Registration Exercise will span 21 days, commencing from May 7th to May 27th, 2024.
This exercise aims to ensure that eligible voters have the opportunity to register and participate in the electoral process. It will take place not only at the District Offices of the Electoral Commission but also in remote electoral areas to accommodate all eligible citizens.
These decisions by the EC underscore its commitment to organizing transparent, inclusive, and well-prepared elections, fostering democracy and civic engagement in Ghana.
