Steven Patrick Garvey is an American former professional baseball player and current candidate in the upcoming 2024 United States Senate election in California. He played in Major League Baseball as a first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres from 1969 to 1987.

Steve Garvey is a ten-time MLB All-Star and a four-time Gold Glove winner. He holds the record for the highest career fielding percentage by a first baseman and is the only player in the history of baseball to have an errorless season at first base.
In October 2023, Garvey announced his candidacy as a Republican for U.S. Senate from California in the 2024 election for the term starting in January 2025. So far he has finished second in the March 2024 “jungle primary”, 12,658 votes behind Rep. Adam Schiff, advancing them both to the general election.
