Burgess was not fond of traveling “in art circles with collectors and high society,” according to an interview with Investor’s Business Daily. As a result, she pursued a new job following her time in college.

For the entire four seasons of The Backyardigans, Janice Burgess was executive producer. When drafting the show’s episodes, Burgess looked to action movies for inspiration since she wanted to adapt suspenseful tales for a younger audience.
