Evanescence is an American rock band founded in 1994 by singer and keyboardist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody in Little Rock, Arkansas. After releasing independent EPs as a duo in the late ’90s and a demo CD, Evanescence released their debut studio album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003.

Evanescence left their record label in 2014 and became an independent band. In 2015, the band emerged from hiatus and announced they would resume touring. They announced the release of a vinyl box set titled The Ultimate Collection that includes all of their albums (including their demo CD Origin) and new recordings and rarities.
Lee said in 2016 that the band was working on the album Synthesis, an orchestral and electronica project released in 2017, comprised of reworked songs from their catalog and new music.
