In many places, including some cities, there’s a thing called Daylight Saving Time (DST).

It’s also known as summer time. Here’s what happens: in the spring or summer, we move the clocks forward by one hour. Then, in the fall, we move them back by one hour.

Let’s take an example: Think about a city where they follow DST. In the spring, on a certain Sunday, they move the clocks forward by one hour at 2:00 am.

So, suddenly, it becomes 3:00 am. Yeah, it’s like time traveling! Sure, you lose an hour of sleep that night, but hey, you get an extra hour of daylight in the evening during summer.

Now, in the fall, on another Sunday, they move the clocks back by one hour at 2:00 am. So, magically, it becomes 1:00 am again. You gain an hour of sleep this time, but you lose an hour of daylight in the evening.

Why do we do this time shuffle? Well, the idea is to make the most of daylight during the longer summer days.

By moving the clocks forward, we get more daylight in the evening when people are usually out and about. But not everyone agrees if DST is really helpful or not. Some argue for it, some against it. The debate continues!
