The Lufthansa strike has been causing disruptions for passengers. The Verdi union, representing Lufthansa ground staff across Germany, called for a strike lasting 27 hours.

The strike began at 4 a.m. on Tuesday and is scheduled to end at 7:10 a.m. on Wednesday. During this time, up to 200,000 passengers are expected to be affected by flight cancellations and delays.

The Verdi union has been in an ongoing dispute with the airline, demanding 12.5% pay rises and a one-off group-wide inflation bonus. The strike affects airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg.

Passengers are advised to check for updates and alternative travel arrangements during this period. Lufthansa is working on an emergency schedule to mitigate the impact of the strike.

Lufthansa’s registered office and corporate headquarters are in Cologne. The main operations base, called Lufthansa Aviation Center, is at Lufthansa’s primary hub at Frankfurt Airport, and its secondary hub is at Munich Airport where a secondary Flight Operations Centre is maintained.
